James Cobbett, Leading Seaman (P/JX127756) was born on November 24th 1909 in Frensham, Surrey, the son of William George Cobbett, a plasterer, and his wife Mary Ann Cobbett, née Church.
James entered the Royal Navy in 1926, and joined HMS Dunedin on November 4th 1937. He became a Leading Seaman in August 1941.
He married Dorothy Beatrice Savage in 1939. The couple had one child, whose birth was registered in September Quarter 1941.
James Cobbett died on his thirty-second birthday.
