Kenneth John Byford, Engine Room Artificer Fourth Class, (P/MX 55595), was born in Croydon, Surrey, on September 7th, 1919, the son of Christopher Henry Byford, a metal worker, and his wife Nellie Constance Byford, née Wicks.
