Able Seaman David Baird (P/CD/X 2878), of the Royal Volunteer Naval Reserve, was born in Johnstone, near Paisley, on December 16th, 1921, the son of Alexander Mitchell Baird, a tram inspector, and his wife Ann (née Swan).
