Ordnance Artificer Bernard Armstrong (P)/MX 63599) was born on May 1st1919, the only child of Bernard Benjamin Armstrong, a farmer, and Ada Armstrong (née Fairbanks) of Boston, Lincolnshire. He studied engineering at Boston Technical College and joined the Royal Navy in 1939.
