George Blythe is the bare-chested sailor on the launch!

Stoker 1st Class George Sidney Blythe (P/SS 118335)  was born on May 22nd 1900 in Gateshead, Durham, the fourth child of Theophilus Blythe, a coal miner, who died in 1911, and his wife Mary Jane, née Scott. George married Irene May Fox, with whom he had several children.

He enlisted in the Royal Navy in 1918 and appears to have served until 1927. He joined HMS Dunedin on August 23rd 1939.
